a totally irrelevant picture but i miss this and the afternoon sun was gorgeous mm i have to write this down before i lose grasp of even wisps of it again and codeine velvet club playing in the background isn't helping anyway i am just so amazed with the (possibly very shallow and non-christian) realization that in Genesis 32: 22-31 when jacob says "I will not let you go unless you bless me" it was not in the tone of an empowered haughty man but rather one that was desperately pleading from one entirely disarmed and brought to the end of his tether by just a touch from God le big papa in the sky and it is entirely heart-wrenching that his simple prayer, however unseeming, is one of mercy and contrition (i also remember something being said about effective prayer being prayer that resonates with both the people and promises of God and how only selfless prayer legitimizes boldness in asking and receiving) which is articulated further by his stalwartly simple reply of "jacob" to the man's "what is your name" (aka WHO ARE YOU, REALLY) and his consequent rechristening as israel is just so incredibly significant and poignant what is this i don't even omg somebody make a movie (or a television series considering how long it is) out of the bible quick quick i would sit my ass down all day just to watch it T.T
